Prof. Dr. Anna Echterhölter (Univ. Vienna):
Praise from the laboratories. Emil DuBois-Reymond as keynote speaker for experimental physiology

Emil Dubois-Reymond was an extremely popular figure in academic circles, known for his physiological research, overcrowded experimental lectures and the development of a new institution. Using his obituary for his teacher Johannes Müller as an example, this lecture will also argue that DuBois-Reymond contributed more to exact methods of physiology at academic funeral services than he did at the dissecting table.
