Exchange students from overseas (non-degree)

Our exchange program is an opportunity for students from overseas to spend up to two semesters in Germany. Find out whether this may be an option for you.

Are you an overseas student?

If the following criteria apply to you, then you are:

  • You are enrolled at a partner university of the University of Stuttgart in your home country.
  • You want to study for one or two semesters at the University of Stuttgart.
  • You can prove grades of C or above

Application process

 The application procedure for exchange students from overseas consists of five steps:

Deadlines:

April 1 (for the following winter semester), October 1 (for the following summer semester)

Please contact the International Office of your home university to complete this step before proceeding to Step 2.

Deadlines:

May 1 (for the following winter semester), November 1 (for the following summer semester)

As soon as you have been nominated under Step 1, you will be provided with the link to the Mobility-Online portal. Please upload the following documents to the registration platform:

  • Proof of German language skills
  • Proof of English language skills
  • List of courses (if you are interested in English taught lectures)
  • Passport sized photo

For courses taught in German:

Your German proficiency by the registration deadline

Participation in the next higher level intensive German course (course fee = EUR 250)

* English taught Bachelor courses are rare. English taught international MSc courses by request only and you need to be in your 3rd or 4th year of study. Please write an email for further information.

Please note:
We can only accept a proof of language skills according to the classification scheme of the European Reference Frame (ERF). If necessary, please ask the language center of your home university to assign you to the equivalent language level using the ERF framework.

After completing your registration on the Mobility-Online platform you can apply for admission as a non-degree program student via our web-based application system C@MPUS.

The C@MPUS portal will be open as of beginning of May/November.

To ensure a successful application process, we strongly recommend that you follow C@MPUS guideline, which can be found in your download area in Mobility-Online

Follow the instructions given and upload:

  • Transcript of records
  • Higher education entrance qualification
  • APS document from students of chinese unviersities only

If your online application is completed correctly by the given deadline, you will be able to download your letter of admission (Zulassungsbescheid) on the C@MPUS platform. In case you need to apply for a student visa, please submit the letter of admission to the German consulate along with the other required documents.

Pre-departure information

Once you have downloaded your letter of admission, please read our Pre-departure information. It covers all the important information you need to get ready, including how to get health insurance, set up a bank account and enroll once you are here.
 

Please continue with the enrollment procedure after your arrival in Stuttgart via your C@MPUS applicant account. Please remember that you will be asked to pay a semester contribution at the time of enrollment. The bank details required for payment of fees will be found in your C@MPUS account.
