Not only is the skilled crafts sector searching for a new generation of trained employees, the history of craftmanship needs to be rewritten and updated. This conference will present current and continuing research papers from a range of fields, breathing new life into the history of pre-industrial crafts. This event gives researchers and visitors alike the opportunity to discuss current topics and modern research fields, shedding new light on the research being undertaken in German-speaking countries.

The Department for Regional History has organized this event to award the publication prize for excellent research at the University of Stuttgart, Faculty of Humanities to Dr. Uta Dehnert.

The conference is linked to the initiative of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (ZDH) to promote the history of skilled crafts from the year 2013 and the follow-up meeting “Fokus Handwerk” at the LWL Freilichtmuseum Hagen – Westfälisches Landesmuseum für Handwerk und Technik in 2015.

All interested persons from the field of historical skilled craft research are welcome to attend this event.

Participation is free of charge. For organizational reasons, please register by emailing per Frau Dr. Senta Herkle.
