The animation project on everyday discrimination at the University of Stuttgart "Things that Happen - Pitfalls of the Ordinary" will be presented on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, between 2 and 3 p.m. in the Filmmakers' Lounge of the renowned Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS). All interested parties are invited to the "Film Talk". Admission to the Filmmakers' Lounge is free, the number of seats is limited.

In 2023, the Diversity Commissions of Faculties 2 and 10 of the University of Stuttgart have launched an interdisciplinary project in cooperation with the HfK+G*, a private university for communication and design in Stuttgart.

This project, which is dedicated to the challenging topic of everyday discrimination, could be realised thanks to the support of the Diversity Fund of the University of Stuttgart. Its goal is to reach a broader public through creative realisation in animations. Through the careful processing and visual realisation of authentic cases of discrimination, based on over 40 interviews conducted with students and members of the University of Stuttgart, those affected are encouraged to stand up for their rights and bystanders of discrimination are motivated not to look away, but to actively intervene.

The Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) has been held annually since 1982, this year from April 23-28, 2024. It is the largest festival of its kind in Germany and one of the most important in the world.
