Welcome Dinner for newly appointed professors

July 4, 2022

Rector Prof. Wolfram Ressel welcomed new professors to the University of Stuttgart in a festive setting. After the Corona-related cancellation in 2020 and the virtual event in 2021, the inaugural event of the Welcome Event Series for newly appointed professors once again offered space for personal exchange.

With a Welcome Dinner at the end of June, the university management welcomed professors who began their service between January 2021 and May 2022. What are the mission statement, vision and strategy of the University of Stuttgart? What are the main research areas? Rector Prof. Wolfram Ressel informed his guests about this. One focus of his presentation was on the Stuttgart Way, the importance of interdisciplinary networking.

From chemist to computer scientist, sociologist, engineers and mathematician: When the new professors briefly introduced themselves, it became clear that interdisciplinarity had already played a major role in many of their careers or was one of the reasons why they accepted the call to the University of Stuttgart. A first networking among each other and with the university management then took place at this evening event.

Welcome Event Series

The Welcome Event Series for newly appointed professors consists of a Welcome Dinner, Lunch Meeting and Sundowner at the Stuttgart TV Tower. Since 2015, it has created an appreciative welcoming culture and complements the offers for new employees, trainees and newly appointed professors. Participants from previous years as well as institutes, facilities or other people from the University of Stuttgart are also included in order to show the many facets and promote exchange.
