A "mission statement" is not only a vision but connects
specific aims with "projections of feasibility". Concepts
regarding the future development of the university are connected
with declarations of intent concerning their realization on the
basis of existing resources and achievement potentials in the mission
statement.
Therefore a mission statement expresses the self-perception of
the University as an institution. It refers to basic principles
and values, to existing competences on the basis of tradition and
location, to problems and claims, to challenges and opportunities,
as they are perceived by the Universität Stuttgart.
Facing international change, globalization, changing political
conditions and the competition of universities among themselves
- developments which are emphatically welcomed by us-, the mission
statement gives an orientation for the future plannings of the university. Our
mission gets apparent in the wording of strategic main focuses and
criteria which are used to make up the balance of our achievements
especially with regards to the allocation of resources.
The orientation towards the mission statement is supposed to shape
the development of research and teaching, the transfer of knowledge
and technology and the development and self-perception of the members
of the university in a specific manner.
| The missions statement is available in two sizes. The quality
of pictures is lower in the smaller version. Contentwise the
versions are identical. |
