With a “sociology of algorithms”, Cordula Kropp continues current debate on AI. She investigates the selection and hierarchization programmed into AI, and its rationality, influences and social legitimization. Because artificial intelligence and its ability to parameterize complex decisions are deeply woven into current constructions of social reality, it is important to illuminate the forms that (can) take into account the social values and requirements of various social groups. This lecture will also consider the promises, expectations and understandings that are used to justify current uses and designs of AI. The conceptional interest particularly applies to transformation and innovation policies.
Public lecture as part of the SQ Seminars Artificial Intelligence and us – the roles of scientific communication.
