The lecture series "AI for engineers" presents methods of AI to solve current problems in science and economy in an innovative way by using AI. The lecture series presents the different perspectives of ten lecturers on the field.

On Wednesday, Gen. 17, 2024 at 3:45 p.m.,Lukas Striefler, Hamburg University of Technology, will speak on the topic of "AI in Civil Engineering".

AI-based methods and applications can be used in a variety of ways in the construction industry. These include AI-supported design processes, analysis and forecasting tools in project management, or applications in materials testing. The goal of the lecture is to provide participants with an overview of possible applications, and an understanding of overarching opportunities and challenges for the use of AI methods in civil engineering. In the second part, participants will be shown specific examples, which will provide insight into the application of Physics Informed Neural Networks (PINNs) for structural mechanics problems. This lecture introduces not only the theoretical basics, it also demonstrates the practical implementation of a simple "toy problem".

New lecture series "AI for engineers" in the framework of the project IKILeUS (HLRS / IHR). Valid as interdisciplinary key qualification FüSQ and in the thematic field module T9 Engineering Sciences but also for interested non-specialists.
