Active Mobility – today and in the future!

September 20, 2021, 5:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m.

This online info event is part of the URBANOME

project and will briefly introduce this Europe-wide project, which focuses on promoting health and well-being in cities. This will be followed by an interactive discussion on the topic “active mobility”: what exactly do participants think this is, and which specific changes would they like to see take place in Stuttgart?

URBANOME stands for Urban Observatory for Multi‐participatory Enhancement of Health and Wellbeing. The overall goal of URBANOME is to promote health, well-being and quality of life in cities by systematically integrating health concerns into urban policies and the everyday activities of city residents*. To this end, an Urban Living Lab (Reallabor) will be set up in Stuttgart to help the city devise solutions to specific and complex challenges, working together with citizens, science and business.

This event will take place during the Stuttgart Mobility Week and kicks off the URBANOME project launched in March, which is being funded as part of the EU's Horizon 2020 program and in which the University of Stuttgart's Institute of Energy Economics and Rational Energy Use (IER) and the Center for Interdisciplinary Risk and Innovation Studies (ZIRIUS) are involved.

Mobility is a key aspect of this project: mobility is a cause of air pollution, but it can also make a valuable contribution to air pollution control, as well as being an important aspect of personal well-being. Being mobile enables you to maintain social contacts and get to places to do things that are fun, explains Dr. Ulrich Fahl from the IER. In the development phase of URBANOME, this public event offers an excellent opportunity to talk to citizens and discuss obstacles and ideas for improving mobility.
