After the end of the Second World War, there weren’t enough electrical engineers in the BRD and the DDR to reconstruct and expand the power and telecommunications grids. The industrial demand for highly qualified engineers influenced the content of degree courses and training in the field of engineering at technical universities. Electro engineering study programs became a central part of German-German competitiveness and were redesigned in accordance with the educational policies and social frameworks of the two states.

This lecture will provide insight into the changes made to the university study programs and compare the similarities and differences.
