The University of Stuttgart at the Virtual Fair Latin America

Information for prospective students in the DAAD’s new Study-in-Germany format for student fairs

When it comes to presenting Stuttgart’s study programs for prospective international students, Latin America has long been a target region for student fairs. Nevertheless, on June 2 the university will be exploring unchartered virtual territory when it answers questions from potential prospective students from up to 20 different countries at the “Study in Germany Virtual Fair Latin America”, organized by the DAAD.

At the “Study in Germany Virtual Fair Latin America”, the University of Stuttgart will be using not only its official virtual stand to provide information about international study programs, especially its English language master’s study programs. The event format will include additional lounges and seating areas for unofficial, relaxed meetings: this is where the fair’s young visitors can each meet with a student or recent graduate from each of the universities – to talk about experiences and challenges that arise when studying abroad.

For years now, the University of Stuttgart has recognized the importance of using not only official university representatives, but also student “testimonials” for its appearances at fairs – usually a native speaker from the country where the fair is being held. Therefore, the university welcomes this lounge format developed by the DAAD and has been able to recruit an experienced student for this task. Dr. Wolfgang Holtkamp, Senior Advisor International Affairs, will be responsible for attending the fair stand, while Ismael Delorenzo, a graduate of the English language master's study program Infrastructure Planning (MIP), will be on-hand to talk about his experiences as a native Columbian in Stuttgart at “student talk”.
