Rail replacement services during the summer holidays

Deutsche Bahn will be modernizing the S-Bahn suburban railway line between Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof and Stuttgart-Vaihingen during the summer holidays, from July 31 to September 12, 2021. This will result in timetable changes on all S-Bahn lines. The trains will not stop at the stations Hauptbahnhof (underground), Stadtmitte, Feuersee, Schwabstraße, Universität and Österfeld. A replacement bus service (SEV) will be implemented using buses that will stop at these stations.

In the city center, buses will replace the S-Bahn trains with two routes (SEV1 und SEV2) between Hauptbahnhof and S-Vaihingen.  Furthermore, the X60 bus will also be running more frequently between the Leonberg and Universität stations. During rush hour, the U34 light rail line will also run between Südheimer Platz and Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Seven weekends will be affected by the construction work. On these weekends, the S-Bahn will be operating an on-demand bus system. This offers passengers additional options, particularly when travelling at night.

Details about the modernization work, the changes to the S-Bahn lines and replacement services can be found on the Deutsche Bahn website [de].
