Facebook usage concept

Facebook is a social network for sharing text posts, photos and videos. Registered users can upload, comment, like, and share text, images and videos free of charge. The content is generally visible to everyone. Users can also send each other private messages or join groups to discuss specific topics.

Further information about Facebook

Facebook offers the following advantages:

  • We can deliver posts quickly and easily to many users at the same time.
  • There are many Facebook users within our target groups.
  • We can create and communicate events.
  • Direct initial contact with our global target group (direct message)

Purpose of use

The creation of a Facebook account is a useful addition to existing communication channels such as the website, print products, YouTube and Instagram. The Facebook account enables us to communicate with specific target groups and promotes interaction and communication with users from all over the world. This allows us to respond to the individual questions and needs of the target groups in a service-oriented manner.

For some target groups, the existing tools are no longer sufficient. With regard to the target group of students in particular, we have found that we can reach them much more directly, quickly and on a daily basis via Facebook, especially since interested recipients can like and subscribe to our Facebook page.

In addition, we can convey our content cross-media and improve our findability online, as well as draw students' attention to the services of the International Office.

Type and scope of use

The Facebook account informs users about current topics relating to studying abroad, studying at the University of Stuttgart for international students and other topics relevant to the target group, such as scholarships. It also encourages interaction between students and the International Office and offers students the opportunity to contact the International Office personally via direct message.

Regular contents of the Facebook posts are

  • current information on stays abroad,
  • information about our partner universities abroad,
  • current information for international students who are either starting their studies at the University of Stuttgart or who have already been studying in Stuttgart for some time,
  • current information on upcoming events,
  • current information about our services,
  • current information about student activities, and
  • queries about reactions and interaction with students on current topics.
