The bachelor minor subject National Economics (VWL) is aimed at students studying humanities subjects, who are intending to work in an occupational field that overlaps with the fields of market-economics and macro-economic issues.
Those who chose this as a minor subject will gain comprehensive knowledge of market and macro-economic facts, functional mechanisms and correlations, equipping them with the necessary tools and knowledge to analyze and solve economic problems in a structured way.
An important base is the ability to understand different decision-making processes and the theory behind them and the micro-economic basis for what is happening on the goods, employment and capital markets, the functional mechanisms of these markets and their interdependence at a macro-economic level, as well as the central aims and instruments of economic policy, particularly social and environmental policies. Furthermore, the minor subject National Economics provides important insight into the interactions between national economics and global economics and into the location decisions made by companies and private households, as well as the resulting spatial structure of the national economy.
