Dear students,

Today I would like to welcome you all by video message to the start of the winter semester 2020/21.

After all of you successfully completed the summer semester online due to the Covid 19 pandemic, I hope you were able to use the lecture-free time to recharge your batteries and are now starting the new semester with a good amount of optimism, curiosity about new content, and with renewed energy, which already accompanied us during the summer semester.

We are sure that this semester will hold one or two challenges for you. The pandemic continues, and so your connection to the University of Stuttgart will be primarily digital in the coming months.

Despite all these new changes, I hope that you will be able to use the semester to acquire and apply new knowledge, gain new experiences and discover new forms of cooperation. In short, that you make the most of the winter semester!

I have hope for us all that the solidarity that has already carried us through the summer semester will also accompany us in the winter semester. Let us - completely in the spirit of our solidarity campaign "Together. Healthy!" – protect each other in the winter semester by wearing masks, observing the rules of hygiene and keeping our distance when we meet in person. This community can develop into an immensely positive energy that will carry us through the coming months and enable us to work together - whether digitally or in person - despite Corona.

With this in mind, I wish you a successful start to the winter semester. Do well and stay healthy!
