Key date for students’ statistics

Record student figures: 26,457 students at the University of Stuttgart announces the statistics on the key date of 15th November for the winter semester 2013/14. This means around 1,900 young people more than in the previous year (24,642). The number of first enrollers is around 5,051 (winter semester 2012/13: 5,120). 8,412 of the students are women, corresponding to a share of 31.8 percent. The proportion of foreign students with 5,223 at 19.7 percent is like the previous year.

The highest enrolment figures for Bachelor programmes was achieved by aerospace technology (391), closely followed by civil engineering (387) and mechanical engineering (367), as well as computer sciences (239) and electrical and information technology (224). Architecture and urban planning recorded 215 and technically oriented business administration 184 new enrolments. Leading in natural sciences this year is chemistry with 169 enrolments (plus teacher’s training 64). Physics recorded 139 enrolments (39 teachers’ training). There were 72 new enrolments in English Studies, 116 students decided in favour of teachers’ training in the subject of English.
