How is biological waste recycled at a high quality level and what markets exist for this? These are the questions the Biological Waste Panel 2018 is concerning itself with on 12th and 13th June 2018 in Stuttgart. The event under the auspices of the Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and Energy Sector Baden-Württemberg is being coordinated by the University of Stuttgart and the Environmental Technology Competency Center – KURS.

Time:   12th June from 4.30 pm

            13th June from 9.00 am

Venue: Hotel Maritim Stuttgart: Seidenstraße 34, 70174 Stuttgart

Topics on the program under the scientific leadership of Professor Martin Kranert, Managing Director of the Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management at the University of Stuttgart, are for example the use of organic waste compost in organic farming, foreign matter in composts and fermentation products as well as new aspects of high quality recycling with examples from practice. A welcoming address by the Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and Energy Sector Baden-Württemberg will be given by Minister Franz Untersteller, Member of the State Parliament (13th June 9.15 am) and State Secretary Dr. Andre Baumann (12th June 4.30 pm). Short lectures and a controversial round table on the topic of “Comprehensive biological waste recording: is agricultural utilization a long-term option?“ will round off the program.

The conference will be supplemented with excursions to the Fraunhofer IGB, Stuttgart and to Agro Energie Hohenlohe GmbH & Co. KG in Kupferzell. The participants will gain insights into phosphorous recovery, bioenergy generation and the production of fertilizers made from biological waste materials and fermentation residues as well as agricultural utilization. Numerous exhibitors will provide information in the framework program about their latest offers, for example on the topics of biogas plant technology, foreign matter removal, organic waste collection, marketing of composts and fermentation residue, biodegradable collection bags and others.
