Training course for Agentur für Arbeit employees

On March 11, 2020, the Universities of Stuttgart and Hohenheim invited employees from the Agentur für Arbeit of Baden-Württemberg to participate in a further training course, presenting information about the study programs and orientation courses on offer at both universities. 80 employees attended the event, which was held on the Vaihingen campus.

Overview of what is on offer for perspective students

Employees at the University of Stuttgart’s Student Counselling Center (ZSB) presented an overview of trial offers and activities, as well as “Schnupper” and early study programs, which give students the chance gain to try out and gain experience of a particular field of study. The event introduced the university’s Try Science courses, amongst others, which enables perspective students to try out aspects of a science degree first-hand.

Reiner Laue, Director of the Student Counseling Center, explained the basic steps involved in student orientation courses, using the Technical Cybernetics study program as an example. He emphasized that the targeted use of online information, trial courses and personal consultation sessions help students to find the right study program.

Information about study programs and career perspectives

During the event, employees from the Agentur für Arbeit were given the chance to interact and exchange information and to view the informative material made available to perspective students.

Finally, both universities provided an overview of their respective study programs, presenting the advantages of science-based study programs, and the career opportunities connected with such fields of study. Furthermore, employees from the Agentur für Arbeit were also given some insight into the work carried out at the Student Counseling Center, everyday university life, and the more practical aspects of a university degree.
