Neu-Whitrow Prize awarded to Prof. Klaus Hentschel

In July 2017, Prof. Dr. Klaus Hentschel (Head of the History of Natural Sciences and Technology Department) and his team were awarded the international Neu-Whitrow Prize in Rio de Janeiro by the International Union for the History of Science and Technology. The prize was awarded for the freely accessible prosopographic database "Database of Scientific Illustrators 1450-1950" (DSI) that includes data on approximately 11,650 scientific illustrators (10% of whom are female) from more than 100 countries, who were employed in the fields of natural history, geology, botany, zoology, biology, medicine, astronomy, chemistry, physics, and various areas of technical science.
