Eine Uni – ein Buch

December 6, 2018

In 2019 the university intends to read a book. Not just any book but a book that is related to the university’s vision and a book that you pick in a two-tier selection. The goal stated in the vision is Intelligent Systems for a Sustainable Society. The vision was newly conceived while preparing the university’s application for the Federal Excellence Strategy. For the book reading, we suggest to establish various formats, e.g. reading circles, debating clubs. All formats should give us the opportunity to engage the whole university with our new vision and to start a process of owning the new vision. While discussing the book, civil society and cultural institutions of the city of Stuttgart will be included into the discourse. Imagination has no limits!

We invite you to vote on five books from different genres. The books reflect the theme of our vision and form a so-called “longlist”.  With your online voting, the “longlist” is brought down to a “shortlist” of three books. At the end, the winner from the “shortlist” is selected in a public slam by applause. The selected book is then be presented in an application to the program "Eine Uni - ein Buch" from Stifterverband, Klaus-Tschira-Stiftung and ZEIT-Verlag.

Now it's your turn to vote. The deadline is December 11 at 6 p.m.

Please rate the five books on the “longlist”. You might add one, two or three points to each book:

  • I am interested in the book, I would read too
  • I like the book, I would enjoy reading it
  • I like it very much and really want to read it

On December 12 at 1 p.m. in the Foyer Tiefenhörsaal at Keplerstraße 17, in a 30 minute book slam we will briefly introduce you to the three books that made it onto the shortlist. The winner will be selected by the audience.

We are in this together and we are up for surprise! You are cordially invited to follow the media channels of the university updating on events around the application and later, of course, for the book discussions!
