June 25, 2019

The BUGA fibre pavilion won over the jury at the international competition held as part of the Germany – Land of Ideas (“Deutschland – Land der Ideen”) initiative.

The University of Stuttgart’s fibre pavilion has once again attracted international attention at the Federal Horticultural Show held in Heilbronn. The Germany – Land of Ideas initiative chose it as the winner of the “beyond bauhaus – protoyping the future” competition, and described the pavilion as a highly innovative fiber construction which demonstrates the future of building. The pavilion is the result of many years of bionic research by the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD) and the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (ITKE) at the University of Stuttgart.

In the international “beyond bauhaus – prototyping the future” competition, the Germany – Land of Ideas initiative looked for pioneering design ideas and concepts which address a socially relevant issue and offer creative answers to the urgent questions of our time. The Germany – Land of Ideas initiative is a joint nation-branding initiative run by the German government and German industry, represented by the Federation of German Industries.
