Thanks to corona, people have been forced to retreat to their own four walls, indulging in a new form of Biedermeierness under the name of “working from home”. This may have already been a trend before corona, but it has since become much more prevalent. While the classic Biedermeier epoch was characterized by his retreat from public life, today retreating into one’s own home is often an opportunity to use the most sophisticated methods of publishing private information. Various surveys suggest that between 25% and 50% of Germans use a “voice-operated assistant” in private. This escape route also becomes an escape route in people’s private lives. This lecture attempts to provide a glimpse into the inner world of the outside world, that has come into existence as a result of this new technological and social situation.

Speaker: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr.h.c. Dr.h.c. Prof. e.h. Michael Resch is Director of the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, home to one of the fastest civilian computer systems in Europe.
