Social cohesion requires space – particularly residential space. In the second part of this lecture series we will be focusing on the topic: “Offenbach is different – urban development and integration in this small global city”. This event is divided into two parts, the evening lecture and a three-hour workshop. The workshop is intended to provide a framework for developing urban administration, investigating how Stuttgart can better present itself as a city for immigrants. We will be considering various points, including which areas in Stuttgart are obviously multi-cultural? And what might be possible ways of increasing Stuttgart’s visibility as a city for immigrants? The workshop will convey information about methods of cognitive mapping as an analytical tool for architects and urban planners and how to use these. The resulting findings will be presented at the end of the workshop to the other workshop participants using posters.

Lecture and discussion with Prof. Dr. Kai Vöckler, University of Art and Design (HfG).

This lecture series is the result of a cooperation between the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Baden-Württemberg, the department Sociology of Architecture and Housing at the University of Stuttgart’s Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, The Hospitalhof Stuttgart and Forum der Kulturen Stuttgart.
