This lecture by Georg Krüger, VR/AR and BIM representative at Star Engineering, focuses on what possibilities the principles of “gaming” in its most intensive form – virtual reality (VR) - offer the industry. The first part will concentrate on illuminating Gregory Bateson’s game-theory approach and particularly the stimulatory qualities needed to use this tool to evaluate and use “gamification” in virtual reality. Part two will use examples of digital VR models from Star Engineering and how their theory-based hand tools created constructive “gaming” and the playful “construction” of virtual reality. There will be live demonstrations and the audience will also be able to test some elements for themselves.

Gamification is the principle behind the Olympic Games, a strategy for avoiding war between nations by encouraging real competition and avoiding the aggression and dynamic of a battle by using the framework of a constructive competition. Computer games simulate both the skills of the user and the skills needed in battle. This lecture series is organized by the mechanical engineering department at the University of Stuttgart.
