Construction sites at the end of the 19th century

The building industry underwent fundamental changes in the 19^th century: economic freedom, the industrialization process, polytechnic building science, new and improved materials, professionalized job profiles are just a few important key words. These developments can be seen on the construction sites of that era, the building industry’s central production site. This lecture will demonstrate the resulting overlapping of traditional and new techniques, using selected views of construction sites from the 19^th century, as well as introducing experts in the fields of the construction techniques used and the role of construction machines.
