ROBORACE 2019: a hard-fought contest

The final of this year’s ROBORACE robot-building competition organized by the Engineering Cybernetics study program at the University of Stuttgart will be held on 29 November 2019. Both university students and high-schoolers from the Stuttgart area will be taking part.

Who can develop the best Lego robot that can complete a marked-out course as fast as possible while balancing a ball on a seesaw?

Representatives from the media are warmly invited to attend the ROBORACE competitions.

Preliminary round: Friday, 22 November 2019, 2 pm

Final: Friday, 29 November 2019, 4 pm

The ROBORACE is taking place for the 19th time. It is intended to get people interested in Engineering Cybernetics and is still highly popular. A total of 49 teams are taking part this year, of which 30 are from high-schools. Many of the 130 high school students come from schools in Stuttgart, but also from Herrenberg, Schorndorf and Bopfingen to compete against the 97 students from the University of Stuttgart.

Since the start of the ROBORACE at the end of October, teams of up to six people have been working hard at building and programming a Lego robot. Its task is to complete a route marked out by a black line as quickly as possible while balancing a ball on a seesaw.

Which team has developed the best robot is decided by two final tasks which spectators are also very welcome to attend. In the ROBORACE preliminary rounds, held from 2 pm on Friday November 22, 2019, groups of university and high-school students will compete against one another for a place in the final. This begins on Friday 29 November 2019 at 4 pm. The competition takes place in Lecture Hall 57.01 at Pfaffenwaldring 57 on the Campus Vaihingen at the University of Stuttgart.
