The aim of this new podcast is to make the diversity of scientific biographies and achievements at the University of Stuttgart more visible. Entitled "Made in Science", Dr. Wolfgang Holtkamp, Senior Advisor International Affairs, will be meeting scientists, alumnae and alumni, employees and students. The conversations are not only about the current work of the person being interviewed, but also about the guest's personality, inspiration and passion.
One thing that all of the guests have in common is that they have studied, researched, or worked at the University of Stuttgart, or are still doing so, i.e. they are "Made in Science". How did they become who they are? Looking back, what would they do differently? Which Swabian specialty do they prefer, Spätzle or Maultaschen? Holtkamp will be asking these, and other exciting questions in the approximately 30-minute interviews.
The first two episodes have already been released and you can subscribe on all major podcast platforms. Episode one features guest alumna and self-employed entrepreneur Dr. Kristy Peña Muñoz. She develops ideas for waste separation in her home country of Mexico and talks to Holtkamp about the ideas hotel owners are coming up with to prevent tourist hotspots from drowning in trash.
In the second episode, Korean architect Hee-Jun Sim, who studied in Stuttgart from 2001 to 2008, explains what experiences from his architectural studies in Germany he was able to put to use in Korea. He will also be providing some insight into the 2021 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism, which he will be curating.
All the podcast discussions will be held only in English. This allows the university to reach a larger international audience, in line with its strategic goal of international engagement and networking.
