January 24: International Education Day

January 24, 2023

January 24 is UNESCO World Education Day. The United Nations cultural and educational organization commemorates the common educational goal of the global community on this day.

Universität Stuttgart: „Bildung ist ein Menschenrecht. Exzellente Bildung unser Versprechen.“

The University of Stuttgart sees itself as a hub of university, non-university and industrial research as well as a guarantor of research-led teaching focused on quality and holism.

With its Teachingpolicy, the University of Stuttgart commits itself to excellent teaching. The central goal is to educate competent, creative and responsible personalities for the knowledge society of the 21st century, who critically engage with the body of knowledge, its expansion through knowledge-oriented research as well as its innovative application in technology and society across disciplinary boundaries.

A prerequisite for excellent teaching is a high-quality range of courses. This is where the framework conditions lie for high-quality and holistic studies in terms of subject matter and methodology, for successful graduation, and for a comprehensive formation of the personality.
Another goal of the university is optimal studyability: The University of Stuttgart pursues the strategy of a dynamic teaching and learning culture. This means being adaptable with regard to the rapidly changing framework conditions. The heterogeneity in the educational biographies of first-year students, as well as in the composition of course members, is increasing.
Therefore, it is essential to make access to educational opportunities and teaching, both on-site and digital, diversity-sensitive. Only in this way can learners do their best.
For qualified educational staff, the university therefore offers an informationpage with handouts and tips in the context of diversity in teaching. Other offerings support teachers in addressing the discrepancy between the highly diverse prerequisites and needs of students and the constantly changing requirements and expectations of the modern knowledge society.
