Great results in the QS World University Ranking 2024

The University of Stuttgart has once again improved its position in the QS World University Ranking and now ranks among the top 21 percent of the nearly 1,500 universities listed worldwide. The university achieved its best result in the indicator "Citations per Researcher".

In the current QS World University Ranking, the University of Stuttgart has moved up 43 places in comparison to the previous year. It currently ranks 312 out of 1,499 universities listed, placing it in the top 21 percent worldwide. Among other aspects, the university's excellent performance can be attributed to the good ratings it received in the categories Research Discovery and Global Engagement, amongst other things.

The University of Stuttgart received the best rating for the indicator "Citations per Researcher". Here, the University of Stuttgart ranks 177th in an international comparison (8th out of 49 German universities listed). This places the University of Stuttgart firmly in the TOP 12 percent worldwide in terms of citations. In the indicator "International Students", the university has moved up from 305th to 296th place globally (6th place in the national comparison). Furthermore, the University of Stuttgart has moved up an impressive 40 places in the "Employer Reputation" indicator and is among the top 23 percent in this area on the international scale.

About the QS World University Rankings

The QS World University Ranking was first published in 2004 and it is considered one of the three most important rankings for universities worldwide. To mark the 20th edition of the ranking, three new indicators were integrated into the QS World University Ranking and the weighting of the indicators included was adjusted. The indicators "Sustainability" (5 %), "Employment Outcomes" (5 %) and "International Research Network" (5 %) have been added to the existing indicators: "Academic Reputation" (30 %), "Citations per Faculty" (20 %), "Employment Reputation" (15 %), "Faculty Student Ratio" (10 %), "International Faculty" (5 %) und "International Students" (5 %). The latest rankings list 1,499 universities; 2,963 universities applied for inclusion.
