Four scientists ranked as "highly cited researchers"

Honors for Professors Maier, Saliba, Sitti and Wrachtrup: The University of Stuttgart is represented by four scientists in this year's "Highly Cited Researchers" ranking by Clarivate Analytics.

Professor Jörg Wrachtrup from the Institute of Physics (3) and Professor Michael Saliba from the Institute for Photovoltaics have once again been recognized as "Highly Cited Researchers" in 2023, placing them among the top 1 percent of the world's most influential researchers in their fields.

Two honorary professors from the University of Stuttgart also received the title: Metin Sitti, who works for the SimTech and IntCDC clusters of excellence, and Joachim Maier from the Faculty of Chemistry.

In the field of Physics, quantum researcher Wrachtrup was recognized for the seventh time in a row, while Saliba, who conducts research in the field of highly efficient perovskite solar cells, received the title for the sixth time in a row in the field of environment and ecology. Sitti was honored in the Cross Field category.

About the “Highly Cited Researchers” ranking

Clarivate Analytics examines how often a publication is cited by colleagues in other scientific publications. This is considered the most important indicator of a scientific paper and is also a sign of the author's influence in their respective fields. The current list of "Highly Cited Researchers" includes publications from the years 2012 to 2022 and comprises 7,125 researchers from 67 countries.
