All engineered products are based on materials and their processing. Creating and processing them, using and recycling them will become even more important in the future as the world’s people strives to conserve global raw materials resources and meet environmental and energy policy goals and precepts. To accomplish these tasks will require specially trained engineers that have both the materials science background and a solid engineering education especially in production engineering.
To this end, graduates will not only be immersed in materials synthesis and characteristics of materials, but will master the entire materials process chain from preparation to design to the final component part.
Admission to the program requires having completed a Bachelor’s degree of at least six semesters in any one of the following: mechanical engineering, automotive and engine technology, materials sciences, aerospace engineering, engineering cybernetics, technology management or comparable fields. Deepened knowledge of mathematics, materials science and thermodynamics will be very useful. While no special language skills are required, a basic knowledge of English is assumed.
