As a basic natural science, chemistry deals with the makeup, properties, and transformation of materials.

In the Chemistry State Examination for Teachers (GymPO) study program you will learn the fundamentals of inorganic, organic and physical chemistry and the basic mathematical-natural scientific mode of thinking. The program of studies is rounded out by subject-specific pedagogical components, which will lets prospective teachers of chemistry acquire an initial set of natural science and teaching competences.

Which interests and skills should I have?

You should enjoy chemistry and be curious about nature’s secrets. You should also have an interest in natural science and mathematical subjects. Studying chemistry for teachers calls for perseverance, self-motivation, ability to work in a team and, especially, self-reliance in organizing your learning experience.
