Virtual journey back in time to the 17th century: The VERS.AI.LLES-Talents project group at the University of Stuttgart has reconstructed a Versailles garden theater from 1664 in a multimedia and virtual format. The students developed literary and theater-historiographical results, which are presented in a digital exhibition. At the end of the project, the Sun King's garden theater can be experienced through VR glasses.
About VERS.AI.LLES-Talents
In the VERS.AI.LLES-Talents project, which is part of the School for Talents, student teachers of French at the University of Stuttgart developed a virtual 3D reconstruction of a Versailles garden theater from the time of Louis XIV. The focus was on Molière's play “La Princesse d'Élide”, performed in the palace gardens in 1664. As the historic theater had been dismantled immediately after the performance, the team examined historical sources on the stage, auditorium, stage design, music and lighting. During a research trip to Versailles in February 2025, they evaluated archive material and exchanged ideas with international experts.
