The new internal funding line "Boost Your Science!" is aimed at early career researchers at the University of Stuttgart. “Boost Your Science!” enables early career researchers with above-average qualifications to expand their research profile, to gain independence and autonomy, and to enhance their national and international competitiveness.
Who can apply?
The target group is early career researchers (advanced doctoral researchers, postdocs, and junior professors without a tenure track position) from all disciplines who obtained their doctorates no more than five years ago. Special personal circumstances (e.g., parental leave, care and support of relatives, longterm illnesses, etc.) can be taken into account.
What kind of funding is available?
The following funding is available for independent, innovative research projects:
- Material resources
- Personnel resources, especially for student research assistants (not a position for the principal researcher)
- Investment funds
- Travel funds
Projects with a budget of up to €100,000 can be supported over 6-18 months. The total budget for the funding line is €400,000 from the university’s Forschungsfonds (research funds). Applications for projects with smaller budgets are expressly welcome.
How can I apply?
Projects can be submitted at any time. To be reviewed at the July and December meetings of the Research Council, the required documents must be emailed as a single PDF document to Prof. Dr. Judith Tonhauser, the Vice Rector for Early Career Researchers and Diversity, by June 19, 2025 and November 6, 2025, respectively.
The project description (see application-form) must clearly demonstrate how the project contributes to the development of the applicant's research profile, to the applicant's independence and autonomy, and to the enhancement of the applicant's (inter)national competitiveness. The application should comment on the prospect of continuing the research project with an application for third-party funding.
