10 years of the meccanica feminale Baden-Württemberg

The “meccanica feminale” spring academy is a project run by the Women.Innovation.Technology Network, supported by the University of Stuttgart and is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts. Female students and engineers will meet up at the University of Stuttgart from 19-23 February to celebrate the 10th anniversary. The event is aimed at female students in natural and technical sciences, for example mechanical engineering, mathematics, medicine and electrical engineering, as well as women already working in those industries. It is a platform for networking and exchange. The course and supporting program teaches contemporary skills in the era of digitization, and in addition to this provides inspiration for personal career paths.

More than 30 specialist courses and workshops are offered in cooperation with the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Stuttgart. The topics range from artificial intelligence (AI), e-mobility, Industry 4.0, CAD modeling, MATLAB and Excel to aerodynamics, computer tomography and quality management. Participants can qualify as data protection officers after successfully completing the data protection courses. Promotional information, tips on conducting negotiations and self-marketing, as well as advice on career prospects in the digital professional world of the future round off the offerings. For a lot of the specialist courses, students can earn ECTS credit points.

The registration fee, including meals in the cafeteria, is an affordable 40 euros per half-weekly course and 20 euros per daily course for students and 240 euros per half-weekly course and 120 euros per daily course for employed persons. You can also register via the website at www.scientifica.de.

An accompanying conference with top-class presentations is also taking place on Thursday, February 21, 2019. This event is free and open to the public. In the evening, there is an excursion to the University of Stuttgart’s high-performance data center, where visitors can experience ongoing research projects in the field of extended reality in a CAVE (multi-page projection).
