Geodesy can be found everywhere in everyday life

Geodesy is a modern engineering science that deals with the collection, management, and processing of spatial data. It can therefore be found in highly topical projects such as autonomous driving, in the digital maps used by navigation systems, in Earth system research where climate insights are derived from satellite data, and in well-known initiatives like Google Earth or OpenStreetMap.

Good to know

Our campus is home to Germany's only institute for navigation. Among other things, this teaches the basics of positioning and automated vehicle guidance. By uniting geodesy and aerospace engineering within one faculty, the university secures a forward-looking and innovation-driven educational environment. For example, our students have the opportunity to write their thesis in the field of aerospace.
