Understanding mathematics and making it accessible

How do mathematical models help us describe problems and find solutions? In the Master of Education in Mathematics program, you will deepen your subject-specific knowledge and prepare for a career as a teacher. Courses in subject-specific pedagogy and educational science as well as the teaching practicum semester combine advanced subject studies with preparation for day-to-day teaching.

  • Deepen your understanding of mathematics and gain insight into teaching practices: Courses in subject-specific pedagogy and the teaching practicum semester prepare you for day-to-day teaching. The teaching practicum semester includes 12 weeks of school-based teaching practice.
  • Combine subjects: You will study mathematics as one of your two major subjects. You can add a third subject through an extension Master’s program.

In Baden-Württemberg, teacher training for high school teachers follows a two-tiered Bachelor’s-Master’s study program structure. The high school teaching degree program includes:

  • Two major subjects
  • Concurrent degree in education
  • School-based practical components
