Public and private transport

Stuttgart offers a diverse public transportation network for daily life, school, and leisure activities. Here you can find out how to get around quickly, affordably, and sustainably as a student at the University of Stuttgart.

Public transport

The public transportation network in the Stuttgart area is operated by the  Verkehrsverbund Stuttgart (VVS), die Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB) und die Deutsche Bahn (DB). The public transportation system is very well developed, so you won’t need a car. It's better to use the buses and trains.

You can find information about timetables and tickets on the websites of the providers listed. The University of Stuttgart campus map helps you locate destinations on both the Vaihingen and City Center campuses.

Charging points

On Campus Vaihingen, in front of Pfaffenwaldring 10, there is a solar-powered charging station for e-bikes that can accommodate up to four bikes. Their owners can park them, lock them, and charge them using their own power adapter plugged into an outlet.

Repair points

There are three bike repair stations on the Vaihingen campus. At these locations, students and university staff can repair and maintain their bicycles around the clock. All locations are listed on UniMap.

In addition, there are bicycle repairshops on both Campus City Center and Campus Vaihingen.

Cargo bikes

A group of students has made the campus more sustainable by making their homemade cargo bike trailer available through Lastenrad Stuttgart e.V.

Carpooling

The “Stuttgart fährt mit” app makes it easy and flexible to form carpool groups. It is a cross-organizational carpooling platform provided by the University of Stuttgart for its employees and students. Another benefit: Registered carpoolers can park for free at the Keplerstraße parking lot.
