Energy Engineering - Master

Admission Requirements

Applicants to the Master’s program in Energy Engineering must meet the academic eligibility requirements. This is the case if:

1. they have a suitable Bachelor’s degree in renewable energy, mechanical engineering, or a closely related program from a German university, university of applied sciences, cooperative university, or university of cooperative education or an equivalent degree from a university outside Germany or expect to obtain such a degree in the near future
2. they have acquired or are still acquiring a minimum level of relevant skills and knowledge

Even if both of these conditions are met, supplementary modules may be assigned if the required subject-specific knowledge is insufficient. This is intended to ensure that students have the prior knowledge needed to successfully complete the Master’s program in Energy Engineering.

The possible supplementary modules include “Advanced Mathematics 1+2” (18 ECTS), “Advanced Mathematics 3” (6 ECTS), “Engineering Mechanics 1” (6 ECTS), “Engineering Mechanics 2” (6 ECTS), “Engineering Thermodynamics 1+2” (12 ECTS), “Engineering Thermodynamics 2” (6 ECTS), “Control Engineering” (6 ECTS), “Engineering Fluid Mechanics” (6 ECTS), and “Materials Science 1+2” (6 ECTS). The total number of credits for all supplementary modules may not exceed 30 ECTS credits.

All supplementary modules must have been completed by passing the relevant examination before the Master’s thesis is registered with the Examination Office.
