History is by no means a profession without prospects. Although the study program is not vocational training in the traditional sense, it does impart subject-specific and key­ skills that are in demand in many professions. Today, hist­orians find employment not only in academia but­ also, for example, in:

  • in the field of journalism (print, TV, radio, online)
  • in the museums and exhibitions sector
  • in culture management
  • in adult education
  • in publishing
  • in libraries and archives
  • in politics, political consulting, and administration
  • in international (governmental as well as non-governmental) organizations
  • and last but not least: in the private sector, especially in the fi­elds of pu­blic relations and management consulting.
