Study program structure and content
The first semesters
In the first four semesters (basic studies), you will acquire a broad foundation in both methodology and subject knowledge. During this phase, the program is largely standardized and consists mainly of mandatory modules. These include, among others, three modules in advanced mathematics, a module in experimental physics, as well as the fundamentals of programming and software systems. Additional mandatory modules cover core topics in electrical engineering and information technology.
You gain practical experience right from the first semester – for example, in the programming lab (C/C++) or the basic electrical engineering lab (e.g., measuring, soldering, circuit assembly). In the fourth semester, you choose your area of specialization and complete your first subject-specific internship, during which you work independently on a small project at an institute of your choice.
Your studies
Semesters five and six are also referred to as "specialized studies," as students further specialize during this period. The specialization areas from which one must choose are:
- Electrical Energy Systems
- Automation and Control Engineering
- Communication Systems and Signal Processing
- Technical Computer Science
- Micro- and Optoelectronics
- Electric Mobility
- Sensor Systems
These are complemented by additional elective courses as well as a subject-specific internship
