The first semesters
The courses in the early semesters teach the range of artistic, technical, historical, and social knowledge necessary for architects. This is where the content and methodological foundations for further study are laid. Teaching takes place in lectures with accompanying exercises as well as design and project work. Each semester focuses on a different theme: Design > Space > City > Technology
Your studies
In the final semesters, you can put together an individual study plan from a wide range of lectures, seminars, impromptu designs, design and project work, and excursions that suit your inclinations and interests.

Studying abroad

Get a glimpse of how the study program works:
Design and project work are a fundamental part of architectural studies.
Several workshops are available to you, for example for traditional model making with state-of-the-art woodworking machines and tools.
A semester excursion takes place during the lecture-free period of the second semester (Whitsun week). Using a city as a case study, the roles of architects and urban planners will be explored, from urban development planning to architectural design and structural engineering considerations.
In the Architecture and Urban Planning program, you will attend many lectures in large lecture halls at the beginning of your studies.
These lectures are accompanied by exercises. These take place in the afternoon and give you the opportunity to deepen your understanding of what you have heard and discuss it. You work in group learning spaces, and teamwork is a priority right from the start.
While digital technology is important, sketching remains indispensable as a key communication tool. This clearly demonstrates the artistic aspect of the profession.
Despite the importance of sketching, computer work plays a major role. The most commonly used programs are taught at the beginning of the course, e.g., working with CAD software.
Right from the start of their studies, students can learn about the world of building construction as part of a self-build.
