Technical Education Teaching Qualification - Master

As someone with a wide range of interests, I was particularly excited by the opportunity to integrate my studies in mechanical engineering and political science within a strong educational foundation. I have learned to look at issues from very different perspectives and to consider them in a broader social context. This multifaceted view of education and technology made my studies particularly varied and exciting.

In my job for the SESAM media library at the State Media Center, I can apply my knowledge of vocational education and training in a targeted manner to evaluate educational media in a well-founded and reflective manner, even beyond my own areas of expertise. At the same time, my political science perspective helps me to critically analyze media with regard to social contexts, implicit role models, and value judgments. This allows me to ensure that the materials are not only didactically meaningful, but also contemporary and reflective.

I found the comparatively low entry barriers and the high degree of flexibility in choosing a minor subject particularly positive. This allowed me to further deepen my technical knowledge as an industrial engineer and to specialize in a specific area through my minor in computer science. In addition, the school internship proved to be a highly valuable and practice-oriented experience. 

Both in my previous job as a laboratory engineer and currently in the TRAINME project, I teach technical content to (young) adults. What particularly supports me is my ability to plan teaching and learning units in a structured manner and to apply learning-promoting methods in a targeted way. The insights into research methods that I gained during my studies also help me in my own research today.

What I particularly appreciated about studying technical education was the practical orientation and strong theoretical foundation of the subject didactics lectures. Together with the school internship and its accompanying events, they provided excellent preparation for my future teaching career at vocational schools. The close and personal contact with lecturers and professors was extremely valuable, as they consistently offered individual support and guidance.

In my daily work, I regularly apply the technical and pedagogical skills I developed during my studies. My subject-specific teaching skills are particularly effective in conveying technical content, while my pedagogical foundation and practical school experience provide me with a broad repertoire of methods for varied and engaging instruction.
