Computational Linguistics
How do ChatGPT and similar tools work? What are large language models (LLMs) good at—and where do they still fall short?
Machine learning is becoming increasingly important for society, and language technologies are being used in increasingly more areas of life. But how can a computer be taught all of that? The M.Sc. in Computational Linguistics (CL) combines advanced knowledge of linguistics and computer science/mathematics to prepare students to develop solutions for our increasingly digital world.
- Because LLMs and AI are cutting-edge, exciting, and multifaceted topics!
- Because this is the perfect place to combine different talents and interests!
- Because the Institute for Natural Language Processing/Computational Linguistics at the University of Stuttgart provides excellent academic support!
- An interest in researching and developing systems and applications as well as in programming
- Logical and abstract thinking
- A good feel for language and the ability to express oneself precisely and correctly
- Curiosity about the complexity and analysis of natural languages
- The ability to work in a team
The M.Sc. in Computational Linguistics is particularly well-suited for students who have experience in computer science and/or linguistics and are interested in studying in an interdisciplinary and innovative environment.
