Study program structure and content
The early semesters
The program begins with the fundamentals of the chosen major as well as the foundational module in pedagogy and technical didactics. The specific content depends on the chosen major, but the focus of the first two semesters is on mathematics and other fundamental lectures of the engineering major. Based on experience, the first two semesters are the most demanding in terms of workload.
Your studies
From the third semester onwards, knowledge in the major subject is further deepened. In addition, the study of the elective subject usually begins, starting with the foundational and introductory modules. At the same time, further specialization takes place in the educational science modules. The study program continues with an industry internship and two school-based internships. The school-based internships, in particular, serve to get to know the teaching profession and to experience a perspective shift from student to teacher. Finally, a Bachelor’s thesis on a topic from the major subject is written.
Industry internship: Admission to the program requires a pre-internship of at least eight weeks. The internship should be completed in the industry related to the major subject. Relevant professional experience can be credited. Proof of the completed pre-internship must be submitted by the start of the lecture period in the 4th semester. By the end of the program, students must complete an additional twelve weeks of industry or craft internships relevant to their major. As a rule, the internship is completed during semester breaks or alongside your studies. Further guidelines can be found in the internship regulations [de].
