Training to become a teacher in the vocational education sector requires completing a Master of Education with the same subject combination as your Bachelor’s degree. At the University of Stuttgart, you have the opportunity to seamlessly continue your studies with the Master's program in Technical Education Teaching Qualification.

If, after completing your bachelor's degree in teaching, you decide that you do not want to become a teacher, there are other Master's programs available to you at the University of Stuttgart.
Job & career
Most of our graduates work as high school teachers, sometimes also at comprehensive schools or vocational schools. However, some students also complete their teaching qualification and go on to work in other fields.
Outstanding student teachers have the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree studies.
A professional teaching career can only be pursued through the Master's study program, where the chosen major and elective subjects are further deepened. In addition, the respective subject didactics create a bridge between the specialized knowledge in the major and minor subjects and pedagogical knowledge. After completing the Master's program, you must also subsequently complete an 18-month preparatory traineeship.
After completing the Master's program and the preparatory service, you can teach at vocational schools of the following types, depending on your subject combination:
- Vocational school
- Technical college
- Technically oriented high school
- Vocational college
- Vocational Upper Secondary School
- Technical College (e.g., Master Craftsman and Technician School)
After completing the Bachelor's degree, you can also work in the private sector and for public education providers and associations in the field of vocational training and further education. Technical education professionals work, for example, in vocational training and further education as trainers, as editorial staff at educational publishers, as engineers in the industry of their major subject, or in educational and labor administration.
