Philosophy / Ethics Teaching Qualification - Bachelor's study program

Information for prospective students

Course content, study program structure, and the application process – guidance and information on the Bachelor's study program in Philosophy / Ethics Teaching Qualification at the University of Stuttgart.

Study program structure and content

While first-year students in other subjects have often already encountered their field as a school subject, many begin their philosophy studies without having previously taken philosophy or ethics classes at school. The program’s structure is designed to address this situation.

In the first year of study, students are gradually introduced to both the content and the methods of the subject. The second and third years of study then allow students to further explore key areas of the field through classics of the history of philosophy or to take their first look at current research debates.

Educational sciences

The teaching degree includes several modules in educational sciences, which address questions of upbringing and education. In addition, you complete a three-week orientation internship at a school during your studies.

Studying abroad

Intercultural exchange, enhanced language skills, fresh perspectives on your field of study, exciting adventures, lifelong global friendships, personal growth, and a valuable boost to your CV — all this and more awaits you during a stay abroad! Are you interested in studying abroad for one or two semesters, or doing a language course or an internship, or would you like to take part in a summer school?
