Study program structure and content
In the first three semesters, you will learn the fundamentals of mathematics. Unlike in school, not only numeracy skills are important. The applicable rules of calculation and properties are derived from elementary assumptions, so-called axioms, and are formulated and proven mathematically in the form of definitions and theorems. From the 4th semester onwards, you can specialize entirely according to your individual preferences.

Get a glimpse of how the study program works:
The mathematics curriculum is mostly taught through lectures and accompanying exercises. In the lecture, the material is presented, which you then review and work through independently.
Weekly homework assignments help reinforce the material. These are discussed in study groups. Students are encouraged to work in small groups to discuss the material and overcome difficulties together.
In seminars, you learn to present mathematical content and communicate it effectively. You prepare a presentation on a given topic, deliver it, and, if required, develop it further in the form of a written assignment.
In addition to seminars, reading courses are also offered. Reading courses provide more intensive training in working with mathematical texts. The courses also focus on the Bachelor’s thesis and explore current research questions.
Programming is also an important component of the study program. You acquire programming skills in the first two semesters in the module "Mathematical Programming". You further deepen these skills in the later practical computer courses. Over the course of a semester, you work in small groups on several programming tasks from pure or applied mathematics. You then present your solution in the form of a presentation.
