Study program structure and content
In the first year of study, you will acquire knowledge in the areas of practical, theoretical, and technical computer science as well as mathematics. You will also learn how to familiarize yourself with other areas independently. Therefore, all courses in the first two semesters are compulsory.
Starting in semester three, you will deepen the basic knowledge you acquired in the first semesters. You can also choose different core modules, allowing you to tailor your studies to your individual needs. You can choose from events on topics such as computer organization, the basics of information security, and human-computer interaction. These events are supplemented by two projects: The programming project and the Bachelor's research project. In these projects, you will work in a team on a topic of your choice.

Most courses are conducted in the form of traditional lectures. These usually consist of lectures in large lecture halls...
...and accompanying exercises in smaller classrooms, led by student tutors. These courses are usually concluded with a written exam.
Students begin learning independently in projects and seminars at an early stage. In projects, students work in teams on a scientific or practical problem, for example, by programming a piece of software. They are supervised in small groups by professors and academic staff from the department.
The results of the projects from the Software Engineering and Computer Science study programs are presented to the entire department on Project Day. This is a kind of internal conference where students present their work and draw inspiration from the projects of others.
