Study program structure and content
The first semesters
The Chemical- and Bioengineering Bachelor's program (formerly Process Engineering) has been modernized and is considered one of the highest-quality programs in this field. It combines a method-based approach with practical elements: Students not only learn formulas but also how to apply them specifically to engineering problems. Practical courses in the laboratory, technology center, and on the computer provide opportunities for practical learning.
First and foremost, Chemical- and Bioengineering is an engineering program. In the early semesters, the program emphasizes technical and scientific fundamentals. The curriculum for semesters 1 and 2 includes introductory science courses such as chemistry, biotechnology, and physics, along with core lectures in mathematics, mechanics, engineering design, and programming.
Your studies
Starting in the 3rd semester, students learn programming in small groups and put their skills into practice in practical projects. Furthermore, you can choose a scientific specialization (biology, chemistry, or materials) that is pursued over four semesters. In semesters 5 and 6, the focus is on process engineering fundamentals and deepening your chosen specialization – in preparation for your Bachelor's thesis.
